James Lee uploaded his new short film THE GIRL FROM TOMORROW on Youtube yesterday for Valentine's Day. It stars Joseph Germani and Koe Yeet. With cinematography by Tan Teckzee and music by Ng Chor Guan.
I saw this at 2am in the morning, after coming back from my own late night shoot for RIVER OF EXPLODING DURIANS. I was exhausted, so I thought to just check out what the film was like at the beginning. But I ended up going through the entire short film.
It reminded me of the Korean film MY SASSY GAL (James would later admit that this film was one of his main references), but I also found myself remembering the Robert F Young short story THE DANDELION GIRL, which also involves a man's daily encounters with a girl from the future.
Actually, this film was shot in late December last year, somewhere near my neighbourhood. Coincidentally, at that time, I was rehearsing THE GIRL FROM TOMORROW lead actress' Koe Yeet's brother, Koe Shern, for my own film.
